Day 1 You’ll be picked up from Kuala Namu Airport in Medan and brought to your accommodation in Bukit Lawang. The trip will take around 3-4 hours. 

Day 2 After breakfast, you’ll be picked up at your accommodation by your guide around 9 am. You’ll walk along the river, pass the rubber plantations and finally enter Gunung Leuser National Park in North-Sumatra. Get a chance to see the semi-wild Orangutans and other wildlife such as Thomas Leaf Monkeys or Pig Tail Macaques! After a refreshing fruit snack, you’ll hike up to stunning viewpoints overlooking Gunung Leuser National Park and Bohorok River. Then enjoy a delicious jungle lunch and continue walking to spot more amazing wildlife! You’ll arrive at the campsite around 3-4 pm. Enjoy a hot coffee or tea with cookies and refresh yourself in the river. A flavorful dinner will be served in the evening and after you can relax, play games or watch magic tricks before you enjoy a goodnight’s sleep. 

Day 3 After your first night in the jungle, a yummy breakfast will be served and you’ll continue to walk for 6-7 hours to look for more wildlife such as the Great Argus bird and Gibbons! On the way, you’ll stop for a tropical fruit snack, learn about the flora and fauna of the Sumatran Jungle and have a delicious lunch before arriving at the second campsite around 3-4 pm. Here you can relax and enjoy another candlelit dinner and a wonderful evening in the jungle of Sumatra. 

Day 4 The next morning the itinerary is up to you! Do you want to visit a beautiful waterfall? Or do you prefer to chill at the campsite and take a swim? The choice is yours! Enjoy a last tasty lunch before you head back to Bukit Lawang by walking or rafting. Your guide will bring you back to your accommodation around 3-4 pm. 

Day 5 In the morning you’ll be brought to your hotel in Medan or Kuala Namu Airport, depending on your plans.

Money 

There is no ATM machine in Bukit Lawang, therefore we recommend bringing enough cash to pay for your accommodation, food, trek and other activities. The closest ATM is in Bahorok (10 km from Bukit Lawang) and takes only Visa and Mastercard. Some guesthouses accept creditcards, however they charge 3-5% per transaction.
